1984 Ford XLT 250
Have had three breakdowns of the steering assembly. In particular the tie rod end -outer/lower ball joint part # 3A130 and 131. Left and right side. They have fallen apart while driving and very nearly caused a tragic accident. The Dealer's advice, "trade in for a new truck and pay $20,000. more." The truck has about 40,000 miles on it. I use it to pull a fifth wheel for which it was designed, according to the dealer, Midtown Ford. Trailer weight is well within towing capacity. Any one else have the same problem? Why should a part specified for 80,000 miles life break down in 18,000 miles?
