1985
Chevrolet Cavalier
My car sucks big ass. No not my 97 Thunderbird LX Limited Edition, she's
my baby. I mean *the* biggest piece of shit EVER INVENTED in the U.S.: the
1985 Chevrolet Cavalier. Ok, let's see here: First of all it has rust
problems, like big time. Second, the carpet smelled like a dead rat soaked
in pump oil, so I ripped it out. All the trim panels too since most were
gone already. It was painted this ugly gray color and the front of the car
from the windshield forward was red, cuz it was wrecked before and then
painted with red primer. $.99 cent gloss black Wal-Mart spray paint took
care of the paint problem. The brake pedal almost goes to the floor but it
still works halfway decently. Now the big problems: A few weeks ago the
shift cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission came off the
transmission, so I zip tied it back on. It would routinely come undone and
I'd have to pull over and zip tie it back on again. Finally, when I was
leaving the police station after paying my ticket (that the fat-ass cop
gave me when I was trying to get to work on time) I pulled out onto the
main road and as soon as I shifted into third gear the shifter
disconnected again so I pulled over to zip tie it again but no the POS had
pulled a trick on me and the cable had snapped off the transmission. I had
my girlfriend with me so I said, Well if it wants to be a piece of shit I
can drive it like a piece of shit... and I reached down and stuck it in
2nd gear and have been driving at 3500 RPM at 30 MPH for three days now,
going on 4, hopefully my new shift cable ($50.00!) will be here tomorrow.
Not only that but the thermostat got stuck halfway shut and the car went
up to 230 degrees before going back down to 190 for a while and I drove it
like this for about 3 weeks after I got it, and finally I just yanked out
the thermostat and said fuck it. Now it runs at like 120 degrees unless
it's raining them my temp gauge does not move off 100. Also the cooling
fan never came on even when the car was near overheating
